About Us:
How did the Cheap Charlie Band get its name?
~When we were trying to think of possible band names, Cheap Charlie came to mind because many vendors in Mexico call themselves "Cheap Charlie", and the name just stuck. ~
We went through some member changes, but Dave & Jane were lucky to hook up with Brian and Kevin in August 2005. Ann joined the band in June 2006 and the band was made whole.
Brian has played lead guitar for 25 years in various bands. Brian and Kevin have performed together for at least the past five years. Ann has been in bands since 1995. While we had the pleasure of playing with Ann Christoffer for a little over a year, Ann decided to move on. We remain friends and welcome her as a guest artist on our stage. With Ann's departure, we were fortunate to welcome Dave Armstrong as a part of the Cheap Charlie Band. Photos and more about Dave to come.
Jane and Dave have played together for 30 years.
Brian, affectionately known as "the bad paper boy", has been accelerating his guitar leads into an art. Dave started out playing bass guitar, then moved on to acoustic and electric guitar. Jane has had extensive vocal training and plays eight instruments. Kevin is our "little drummer boy". Animal from the Muppets is one of his friends, and we don't mind him either.
We have four lead singers who all offer their own flavor. Brian has a unique singing style that separates him from other vocalists. Dave sings like only he can. Jane sings sweetly and Ann belts 'em out. Together we do four-part harmonies, which few bands can accomplish. Jane, Brian, and Ann are all songwriters, so we will be adding more originals. We will be working on a CD, so keep your eyes open for that in the future.
We feel we have a very special opportunity and we are all excited about our band's future. We are able to do many different styles to please any audience, and have an eclectic sound. We have become good friends and look forward to performing together for many years to come.
